Yiannis Vroutsis

MP, in charge of social security New Democracy party, former Minister of Labour, Social Security & Welfare

He was born in Athens in 1963 and comes from Naxos and Amorgos (Cyclades islands). He studied Economics, in the National and Kapodestrian University of Athens and earned his post-graduate degree from Panteion University of Athens. He speaks English. He worked for the private sector and then for the Ministry of Finance. He was first elected MP with the conservative New Democracy party (ND) in September 2007. He was re-elected MP in October 2009, May 2012, January 2015 and September 2015. He was set person in charge of Labour and Social Affairs for ND party (14/12/2009 – 8/1/2011) and served as assistant person in charge of Financial Affairs for ND party (10/1/2011 – 11/4/2012). He served as Minister of Labour, Social Security and Welfare (21/6/2012 – 25/01/2014) and Parliamentary Spokesperson for ND party (February 2015-November 2016). Since November 2016 he is person in charge of Labour, Social Security and Social Solidarity (N.D. party). He is also member of the Social Affairs Committee and the Social Security Committee of the Hellenic Parliament.
