Kostas Stathopoulos is a Partner in the Financial Services Assurance practice being based in EY Athens office. He specializes in financial instruments valuations and accounting under IAS 39 and IFRS 9 and loans impairment.
He has served as an audit partner in a major Greek bank, while he has extensive experience in IFRS9, leading or co-leading implementation projects in a number of financial institutions. He has vast experience in the Financial Services sector, being in charge of projects relating to Financial Instruments technical accounting under IFRS and US GAAP, Financial Instruments valuation, Hedge accounting, Accounting policies and methodologies, Treasury operations as well as SOX framework & controls.
He has also been involved in accounting issues for insurance companies as well as with the accounting treatment and valuation of their investments.
He has an MPhil in International Finance from the University of Glasgow and a BSc in Economics from the Athens University of Economics & Business. He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
